Some Quick Advice for Product Job Seekers

I've spent a lot of time reviewing CV's recently, and based on some trends I'm seeing I figured I'd give a tip for standing out as a Product Management candidate.

On your CV, dedicate a section to listing out products and or features that you've launched, with approximate dates, and, if possible, the tech stack that it was built on.

It's great that you worked at 'Big Bank X' or at 'Start Up Y', but what's really compelling is seeing a candidate who has actually worked on building, launching, and growing actual products.

Being able to see at a glance what Products you've worked on does the following:

1. It shows that you've experienced and executed on the process of solving user problems by developing digital solutions.
2. It peaks my curiosity and motivates me to learn more about the experience you've accumulated when building those products.
3. It shows that you have experienced working with cross-functional teams to achieve the difficult goal of taking a product to market.
4. This is the job. The job is building and launching products with the purpose of fulfilling specific outcomes.

It boils down the timeless saying 'Show, don't tell', whereby hiring managers want you to actually show tangible outcomes that you've worked on, rather than to try and discern your experience from the nebulous description of a position that you held.
